From Ada head track coach Chad Roark –
“I am incredibly proud of the coaches and athletes on our track team this season. The entire Ada community should recognize the exceptional talent within our district, which will has and will continue to earn state and national recognition in the coming years.
Gavin Gunter is now two-time state champion and the undisputed best discus thrower in Oklahoma and Ada history. He finished his career winning 21 track meets in a row.
Gavin Hamilton is within 200th of a second of breaking the school record in the 200-meter dash… and he still has a year to compete. He will likely break the school record. Our boys’ 4×100 team set the second-fastest time in school history. Our boys 4×200 team ran the second fastest tome in school history and three of the four members with return for our next season. The boys’ 4×400 team placed fifth overall, with all members being underclassmen. I am excited for their future.
Jadyce Burns, a freshman, is already the fastest Lady Cougar in Ada High School history, holding the school record in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. Jadyce placed third overall in the 200-meter dash. Jadyce is the fastest freshman girl in the state of Oklahoma. Edyn Keefer, another freshman, is the fastest freshman hurdler in the state of Oklahoma. Edyn placed fifth overall in the 100 meter hurdles. Lillian Keefer, a junior, placed second overall in the state in the high jump. Bella Holcomb, a sophomore, placed fifth overall in the high jump.
We set multiple school records, and this was the largest group Ada Track has ever taken to the state meet. With only two seniors qualifying, that means 18 of our student athletes will be returning… and many underclassmen were very close to qualifying. Both teams placed within the top 15 of class 5A. The future of Ada track is bright!”
