Ada’s Teacher of the Month Award goes to alumni Meredith Roberts. Meredith graduated from Ada High School in 1990 then went on to earn her undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University and a Master’s in Art from Ohio State University. Meredith started teaching at Ada High School in 2018 and teaches three different drawing classes, Advanced Placement 2D and 3D, as well as a ceramics class.
“My favorite thing about teaching would have to be watching a student fall in love with a process and discover a hidden talent,” said Meredith.
Her inspiration comes from those that she teaches every day.
“My students are my inspiration, they are my heroes, their lives are unbelievably difficult and their strength I am in awe of,” Meredith said.
This year she is most looking forward to each and every day that she gets to spend face to face with her students, especially after quarantine.
“I cherish each day my seats are full,” Meredith said.
Meredith is a mother to two wonderful kids. Jack who is 15, a sophomore who plays baseball and basketball and Ava who is 11 and in the fifth grade and she enjoys playing the ukulele, guitar, and gymnastics.
In her free time, you will catch Meredith working on different art projects in all different types of mediums. She enjoys working on her paintings. Not only does she show her students work she also believes that her students need to see her as an artist as well, so she makes a point to show her work at least once a year. She is also a member of the Southern Oklahoma Addiction Recovery program as a board member and enjoys working and helping with those people in recovery. Meredith also enjoys traveling and exercising as much as she can.
