Coming off an unprecedented run of success, the Ada High School girls tennis team enters the new season with championship expectations once again under head coach Terry Swopes. The Cougars have captured back-to-back state championships and return a core group that knows what it takes to win at the highest level.
“The girls team are coming off back to back State Championships the last two seasons,” Swopes said. “Off of last year’s championship team, we have three starters returning. We are adding a talented freshman and some talented, experienced players. They will look to be contenders again this season.”
One of those returning leaders is Kylee Witt, a key piece of Ada’s championship foundation. Witt has been a varsity contributor throughout the Cougars’ dominant stretch and continues to set the tone for the program.
“Kylee is a returning starter this season,” Swopes said. “She has been a member of the varsity team and integral part of our back to back state championships. She a gifted player, excellent leader, and has an incredible work ethic.”

Another cornerstone of Ada’s success is Taylor Cook, a proven winner on the state’s biggest stage. Cook claimed a state championship at No. 2 doubles last season, showcasing both her skill and consistency.
“Taylor is a returning starter for us,” Swopes said. “She won the state championship at Number 2 doubles last season. She is an incredible player and she spends more time on the court than anyone else. She is an excellent leader as well.”

Looking to make an immediate impact is Ava Moon, an underclassman already expected to contribute at the varsity level this season.
“Ava is an upcoming freshman that will play varsity for us this season,” Swopes said. “She works incredibly hard and is an excellent player.”
Depth remains a major strength for Ada, with several experienced athletes pushing for varsity roles. Baylee Boatwright returns after playing No. 2 singles last season and finishing third at state, while Pierce Dougherty, Channing Ballard, and Sydney Layton each bring six years of experience in the program. Lexi Linn, a summer transfer from Texas, adds even more talent and competition to the roster.
With championship experience, proven leaders, and strong depth, Ada once again looks ready to defend its place atop Oklahoma girls tennis.
