Performing in front of an audience or leading on the soccer field—Michael Leubscher shines in both arenas. “I am the Green Team Performing Arts Leader and a captain on the varsity soccer team,” he shares. Balancing his dual roles with grace, the Ada High School senior demonstrates a passion for excellence in all he does.
Michael’s involvement in soccer began early, and he’s embraced the challenges and rewards that come with it. “New challenges motivate me,” he says, highlighting his drive to constantly improve. His athletic journey reached a significant milestone during his freshman year when he earned a spot on the varsity team. “The highlight moment in my soccer career was playing on the varsity team during my freshman year. I have been a member of the starting team since then.”
Off the field, Michael has made a name for himself in performing arts. “So far, the highlight moment in my acting career was winning 3rd place at One Act state with our competitive drama team,” he says. His love for the arts was ignited by Mrs. Palmer, his performing arts teacher. “Mrs. Palmer has opened my eyes to the world of performing art—especially acting,” he explains. Michael’s appreciation for his teachers extends to Ms. Duncan, his AP Calculus teacher. “Ms. Duncan has shown me that even though I initially think I can’t do something, if I continue to put the work in, I will succeed.”
When asked about his biggest influences, Michael doesn’t hesitate to credit his parents. “My dad has always been there to support me with everything I do, no matter the time commitment or length of the car drive. My mom has helped me grow into a mature and well-rounded adult.”
Michael’s packed schedule also includes choir, jazz choir, and competitive drama, showcasing his ability to balance academics, arts, and athletics. After graduation, he plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and hopes to join the Helmerich School of Drama with a minor in business.
Representing Ada High School is a source of pride for Michael. “I am very proud to represent Ada High School and my larger community whenever I play or perform at away competitions,” he says. “I believe in making friendly connections with everyone, even if they’re my competition.”
