Ada’s Keith Cook – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Ellis Stone Company

For Keith Cook, the 2023 baseball playoffs hold a special place in his memory. “We got to go beat Bishop McGuinness twice in playoffs at their place,” he recalls. Moments like that, filled with teamwork and determination, encapsulate what Keith loves most about playing baseball at Ada High School. Now a senior, he looks forward to creating even more unforgettable experiences during his final season.

Keith has been passionate about sports for as long as he can remember. “I play baseball and basketball and have loved both since elementary school,” he shares. That love, fostered by an athletic family, was further encouraged by his father. “My dad definitely influenced me to fall in love with sports,” he adds, crediting his dad’s support and example as crucial to his athletic journey.

One of Keith’s favorite parts of playing baseball is the bond he shares with his teammates. “I think our chemistry is great,” he says. “Last season really brought us all together in a healthy way.” For Keith, the strength of their team connection is vital to their success and something he values deeply.

As a senior, Keith sees himself as both a leader and a role model. “I would describe my role as a senior leader,” he says. “I prepare to perform and be the best role model possible to my teammates.” His commitment to helping his team both on and off the field is a testament to his character and work ethic.

Keith’s goals for the season reflect both individual growth and team pride. “Finishing top two in our district would be a great way to finish the regular season,” he says. “And getting to state so we can show people who we are.” To achieve this, Keith follows a rigorous training regimen. “In a week, I try to lift anywhere from three to five days. Same with field work, but I do try to get in the cages every day,” he explains.

Overcoming obstacles has shaped Keith’s perspective. “I tore my ACL and had to miss senior year basketball, which has been rough,” he says. “But after rehab and looking forward to baseball, it has allowed me to appreciate getting to play even more.”

Looking ahead, Keith plans to continue both his academic and athletic careers. “I plan to study health sciences and play baseball in college,” he says. As he reflects on his journey, Keith remains grateful. “I am thankful for everybody who invested in me, from family, coaches, staff members, and my classmates,” he shares.

Keith Cook’s dedication, resilience, and leadership make him a standout on the field and a role model for the Ada community.
