Ashlynn Rolen of Ada brings all the positivity anyone could ever ask for in a cheer team member. Rolen first started cheering back in junior high school after being encouraged by her former dance teacher.
“She always said my jumps were too good not to do it,” Rolen said.
Now Rolen brings her positive spirit and enthusiasm to Ada as a member of the Cougar cheer program.
For Rolen the best traits an individual can bring to the floor are a positive attitude, kindness, and a bright smile. All of which she manages to produce with ease.
There is never a dull moment on the Ada cheer team according to Rolen.
“Every memory with the Ada High cheer team is my favorite! We are always laughing and encouraging each other,” Rolen said. “If I had to pick one memory it would be at the end of last year when I hit my first liberty ever and everyone was so excited that I hit it for a first-time flyer!”
Rolen is thankful for the support she has received from friends and family in the Ada community. She is especially grateful for her mom who she said inspires her everyday.
“She is always super kind to others and she has this big open and welcoming heart,” Rolen said. “I strive to have that also!”
Outside of cheer Rolen keeps herself busy. She doesn’t participate in other sports, as cheer is her sole athletic focus, but she can often be found volunteering with the United Way. In addition Rolen is in the internship program through Ada High as she begins preparing for her future and life after high school.
“My plans after high school are to go to college and major in nursing,” Rolen said. “I want to be an OB nurse. It’s been my dream since I was ten.”
