Ada junior Josie Morgan is a multi-sport athlete who plays second base for the Cougar fast-pitch softball team and is also a member of the pom squad. Softball coaches speak highly of Morgan saying that she is a consistent player who never complains and always strives to make the team better.
For Morgan there are several key characteristics that factor into being successful on the field.
“A quality to be a good softball player is being able to adapt and being flexible to the situation,” Morgan said. “Another quality to have is being a team player. One of my favorite things about this sport is feeling the excitement passing through the team when a teammate succeeds at making a catch or getting a base hit. I also enjoy when I get to slide to a base.”
This year Morgan and the Lady Cougars have set a goal of making it to the state tournament. Morgan has had some memorable moments in her time at Ada and is looking forward to making more throughout the season.
“One of my favorite memories at Ada is during my sophomore year,” Morgan said. “We were playing against Clinton and I got a double and both my softball and pom teammates were cheering for me.”
While Morgan loves softball she is just as passionate about pom and dance.
“This will be my third year on pom,” Morgan said. “I also dance at Central Oklahoma Dance Center and this will be my 11th year of dance and my eighth year on the competition team. These programs have helped me get out of my comfort zone and let me try new things.”
Outside of athletics Morgan knows where to turn to for advice and support – her parents.
“Both my mom and dad inspire me,” Morgan said “I want to be hardworking and encouraging just like my mom. I also want to be positive and thoughtful like my dad.”
