Serving It Up with Ava Bolin – Presented by RibCrib

Ada High School is known for its historical records of tennis state championship titles. Ava Bolin is a junior and is close to becoming a State Champion or two herself. She is a three- year member of the varsity tennis and academic team. This past season, she and her doubles partner Ahna Redwine were Class 5A Regional Champions and 5A State-Runner Ups in No. 2-doubles. This year, Ava served as Quiz Bowl team captain where she and her teammates were Regional Champions. She has been competing in the Academic Bowl since the fourth grade.

Shari Manwell is the academic coach and is proud to have Ava’s skills on the team.

“Ava started competing on the academic team in fourth grade and is a third-year varsity player. She is captain of our team this year. Ava is involved in many aspects of high school life including a three-year varsity tennis player and was state runner up in doubles last year, four-year member of All-State Choir and a member of performing arts. Ava fully dedicates herself to anything that she does and is a vital member to our team,” said Manwell.

Ava is currently ranked No. 1 in her class and loves to learn anything within the arts. “English and reading have always been favorites. My teacher Mrs. Keith is an amazing person, and it’s been great to be her student for these past two years. Music has always been a passion of mine,” said Ava.

Her friends say that she has amazing music taste and would “totally win a rap battle.” Tennis season and Ada High’s “rush” week are her two favorite times in the school year. Ava is proud to be an Ada Cougar.

“Oh yeah, I’d have a great time. I have lots of school spirit and would still do it even if everyone knew.” Her life motto is: Never be afraid of what people think!

When Ava isn’t practicing, she can be found teaching tennis lessons to the youth.

Ava’s offers some advice to the underclassmen at Ada; never let any opportunities go to waste. Always try to put yourself out there and enjoy life.

Ava is interested in playing tennis at the collegiate level focusing on arts and sports management.

“I definitely want to go to college, and I’ve been in contact with quite a few colleges to play tennis for them. I’m not quite sure where I want to go yet,” she said.

Ava is a talented, young athlete with a bright future ahead; her determination on and off the court will place her above the rest.
