2025 Ada Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Casey Fowler – Shelter Insurance

ADA COUGARS

COACH: Kyle Caufield

Record: 16-12

OUTLOOK

The Ada Cougars are once again setting their sights high under head coach Kyle Caufield, who enters his sixth season leading the program. With a roster loaded with athleticism, length, and experience, Caufield believes this year’s squad has the tools to make a serious postseason push. “Each year the goal and standard doesn’t change for us,” Caufield said. “We always strive to be one of the teams at the state tournament. I believe this year we will be able to have a mix of size and athleticism.”

At the heart of the Cougars’ attack is senior guard Miilan Riley (6-1, Sr.). “Miilan is a senior guard who goes above and beyond to help his teammates and do it in a positive way,” Caufield said. “He has worked tremendously hard the last three years to put himself in a position to be a leader on this team.” Riley’s poise and leadership are vital for a group determined to compete at a championship level.

The Cougars return several key pieces who bring both scoring and size to the lineup, including Hemi King (5-11, Sr.), Tucker Hudson (6-5, Sr.), Owen Wofford (6-5, Sr.), and Charlie Vest (6-1, Jr.). Inside, Hudson and Wofford anchor the paint, while King and Vest add experience and shooting on the perimeter. “I believe we will have all the tools to reach our goal,” said Caufield. “It will be a matter of execution, great defense, and playing great team basketball.”

Adding depth and versatility are Grayson Morris (6-4, Jr.), Malichi Chapman (6-2, Jr.), Rex Reynolds (6-5, Jr.), TJ James (6-5, Jr.), Gus Mathews (6-5, Jr.), Kingston Fraizer (5-5, Jr.), Leyton Jacobs (5-7, So.), Tebren Thomas (5-9, So.), Rhett Klaus (5-10, So.), Canan Parker (5-9, Jr.), and Eli Jonka (5-9, So.).

One young player already generating attention is Tyse Williams (6-1, Fr.), a dynamic guard with tremendous upside. “Tyse is a combo guard with great quickness and acceleration,” Caufield said. “He can score on multiple levels, finish at or above the rim, and consistently knock down the open three. He’s a great on-ball defender and is looking to improve each day he steps on the floor.”

With a balance of size, athleticism, and leadership, Caufield is confident in what his team can achieve.
