Ada’s Tyse Williams
The first dunk is a milestone many basketball players spend years chasing. For Ada sophomore Tyse Williams, it was more than a highlight-reel moment. It was confirmation that hard work, patience and faith can turn goals into reality.
That lesson has become the foundation of Williams’ approach to athletics as he continues to make his mark in both basketball and football.
While the dunk remains his favorite athletic accomplishment, much of Williams’ focus these days is on the football field. Entering his sophomore season, he has already earned recognition from Ada’s coaching staff as a young player with the potential to make a significant impact in the years ahead.

Williams embraces that opportunity with the same mindset that helped him reach his first major basketball milestone.
“Sports have taught me that you need to stay patient, be disciplined and trust the process,” Williams said. “I can overcome challenges when I stay focused and prepare.”
Those qualities are especially important in football, where development often happens behind the scenes through offseason workouts, film study and countless repetitions. Williams understands that earning a larger role requires daily commitment long before Friday nights arrive.
His growth as an athlete has also been shaped by people who have challenged him to become a better version of himself. Among them is Mr. Pettigrew, the teacher Williams credits with making the biggest impact on his life.
“He’s taught me discipline and how to better myself as a young man,” Williams said.
Teammate Milan Riley has also played an important role in Williams’ development.
“He’s shown me how to be a better leader and has always had my back on the court,” Williams said.
Leadership is a trait Williams hopes to continue building as he grows within Ada’s athletic programs. Even as a younger player, he recognizes the value of setting a positive example through effort and preparation.
When he needs to clear his mind, Williams heads to his favorite place in town — the gym.
“It’s always a relief and a sanctuary when I’m feeling down and a great place to work on my game,” he said.
Faith remains another cornerstone of his life. Williams points to Proverbs 3:5-6 as the best advice he has ever received. The scripture’s message about trusting God’s direction has helped him stay grounded through challenges and uncertainty.

“It has helped me submit more and really trust in what God has in store for me,” Williams said.
A member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Williams strives to grow both as an athlete and a person. As he prepares for another year representing Ada, he remains thankful for the support system around him.
“I would like to thank God, all of my coaches, my family and friends for supporting me and inspiring me to be a better person,” Williams said.
For Williams, the journey is still just beginning. But whether on the football field, the basketball court or in the classroom, he is committed to trusting the process and continuing to grow one day at a time.
