VYPE: What advice would you give to younger players aspiring to play high school football?

DL: I would say stick with it and don’t quit; you go through high school once, make it the best you can.

VYPE: What are your plans after graduating from high school? Are you considering playing football in college?

DL: I will be playing football in college, I have not made a decision on where yet.

VYPE: What is your specific role on the team, and how do you prepare for it?

DL: My role is to lead by example and hold my teammates accountable. It doesn’t take much for me to get ready because if you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.

VYPE: What does a typical week of training look like for you?

DL: I will normally practice and lift with the team, but I also have some help besides that with 1 on 1 lifts and speed and agility.

VYPE: What inspired you to play football, and who are your biggest influences?

DL: What inspired me to play football was my dad; he played when he was younger so that’s what really started me off. He’s helped me along the way.

VYPE: How important is community support to the team, and in what ways does it impact your performance?

DL: Community support is just as important as everything else. They help hype you up and help us out with a lot of other things that benefit the team.

VYPE: Who do you look up to as a role model, both on and off the field?

DL: I look up to our coaches; they are all great coaches as well as family men. They teach us football and life.

VYPE: Is there anyone you’d like to thank for supporting you throughout your journey?

DL: I would like to thank God, he put me in this position. My dad and sister for always being there. Mrs. Sewell, my second mom, for always helping me with schoolwork and other problems. Coach Wade Boyles for being in my football career since seventh grade. Coach Colby Shamley for building the player I am and my strength coach Brandon for making me big and strong.
