Ada’s London Wilson – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Ram Jack of Ada

London Wilson, a senior at Ada High School, is not your typical golfer. Despite the lack of experience when she started, London has quickly made her mark on the green, becoming a standout player in the competitive world of high school golf.

For London, golf wasn’t the obvious choice. “My dad got me playing. He doesn’t know much about golf, but he’s always trying to learn as much as possible to help me succeed,” she said. With her father’s unwavering support and her own determination, London embarked on a journey that would lead her to unexpected success.

Success in golf, according to London, demands dedication and perseverance. “It takes hours and hours of practice and no days off.” This commitment paid off when London clinched a pivotal victory, winning state during her junior year—a highlight moment that solidified her passion for the sport.

But for London, it’s not just about personal achievement. When asked about her favorite opponent, she mentions Hilldale and reveals her competitive spirit. “Whenever I play with someone mean, all I think about is beating them at the next tournament.”

In practice, London finds inspiration in her teammate, Ava Manwell. “I love playing with Ava because we’re both long hitters, so I always want to outdrive her.”

Despite her individual success, London remains grounded, recognizing the importance of teamwork and camaraderie. She highlights Kenzie as a key player who often goes unnoticed. “She constantly builds people up and boosts the morale of the team,” London emphasized.

Beyond the fairways, London is actively involved in campus activities, including the math and book clubs. Looking ahead, she plans to continue her golf career at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she hopes to make an impact both on and off the course.

Representing her school and community holds special significance for London. “Coach Ron Anderson took a chance on me. He believed that I deserved a spot in the lineup even though I was a sophomore that had only been playing for a few months. The fact that I get an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself is amazing.”
