Ada’s Jackson Swopes – Tennis Spotlight – Presented by Casey Fowler – Shelter Insurance

Jackson Swopes, a senior at Ada High School, epitomizes the dedication and passion required to excel both on the tennis court and in the classroom. With a lifelong affinity for tennis passed down through his family, Jackson has honed his skills while maintaining a stellar academic record as a 4.0 AP Scholar.

For Jackson, tennis isn’t just a sport; it’s a family tradition that has shaped his upbringing and instilled in him a profound love for the game. “I have grown up playing tennis; my entire family has played it, so I have just had a natural love for the sport.”

Inspired by the relentless work ethic of his teammate, Halston Redwine, Jackson admires his teammate’s commitment to constant improvement. “His strive to be better is something I will always look up to,” Jackson remarked.

Balancing the demands of academics and athletics is no easy feat, but Jackson credits discipline and time management for his ability to navigate his busy schedule effectively. “All it really takes is discipline and making myself sit down and do the work that needs to be done whenever I have free time.”

Among the many highlights of his high school sports career, Jackson fondly recalls the moment when his team swept the 5A public school championship, a testament to their collective skill and determination.

Being part of a team has significantly influenced Jackson’s personal growth, fostering strong connections and enhancing his communication skills both on and off the court. “Being a part of a team has helped me become better at connecting and communicating with my teammates, as well as other people.”

Guiding him every step of the way, Jackson’s father, who also serves as his coach, has played a pivotal role in his development as an athlete. With unwavering support and guidance, his father has not only nurtured his tennis skills but also imparted valuable life lessons that extend beyond the court.

Looking ahead, Jackson plans to continue his academic and athletic pursuits at Earlham College, where he will major in computer science and continue to showcase his talents on the tennis court.

As Jackson Swopes embarks on the next chapter of his journey, his dedication to excellence in both academics and athletics serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment and determination to succeed.
