Ada Football Character Counts – Fisher Marr – Presented by RibCrib

Fisher Marr is a junior for the Ada Cougars football team and plays on both sides of the ball at linebacker and fullback. While Marr can make things happen with the ball in his hands or set blocks for his tailback, Marr has been working hard to improve his reads on defense and has been seeing his hard work pay off.

“I think tackling is definitely what I’m best at,” Marr said. “I’m working on getting my reads and fitting my gap to the best of my ability.”

Before the season began Marr said he was excited for Ada’s homecoming game against Durant.

“We had been working our butts off in the offseason,” Marr said.

He and the team were ready to put on a show for the Cougar fanbase, and Ada didn’t disappoint, as the Cougars romped Durant 42-16.

Marr began playing football in seventh grade and his passion for the game has never wavered. Marr said his favorite thing about playing is when the crowd gets hyped up after big plays.

“My favorite thing about football is when we go out on the field as the first defensive series and everyone’s going crazy and psyched up for the game,” Marr said.

Last year against Tecumseh everything fell into place for Ada and it created a lasting memory for Marr.

“My favorite highlight from football was definitely last year at Tecumseh,” Marr said. “The entire team had a great game and I had the first interception of the season and a safety. I loved the energy we had at practice and in the weight room that week. It was crazy!”

While Marr loves football and can always turn to his coaches and teammates for support he is thankful for the love he receives from his family.

“My parents are definitely the people I look up to because they show me how to act on and off the field,” Marr said. “I also look up to my cousin, Blake. He played football at Ada a few years ago so it was awesome watching him play when I was a kid.”

Marr can thank the lessons he’s learned from his coaches, teachers, and family in Ada for his discipline and work ethic. As a junior he is already looking ahead to life after high school.

“My plan after high school is to attend West Point or the Air Force,” Marr said. “When I’m out of the military I’d like to become a dog handler and want to coach football and teach German.”
