VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?
Caroline: My goal for myself is to have a healthy season and soak in every second with this team. My goal for our team is go out and do our best, no matter the outcome I want us to be proud of our effort.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Caroline: The most fun is definitely when we do group drills, and all hit together. It’s a great bonding time and keeps it lighthearted in stressful times.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?
Caroline: My favorite coach/teacher is Terry Swopes. He has been my coach ever since I could hit a tennis ball and has never left my side. Through the good and the bad he has been a person I admire and respect both as a person and a coach. He pushes me to do my best and to always walk off of a court proud of what I did, even if it’s not the result I wanted. I am grateful to have him as my coach and wish everyone could have a Coach Swopes.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Caroline: My favorite athletic memory is placing third at the Crossings tournament last year and watching Ahna Redwine and Ava Bolin in their final state match this past year.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Caroline: A teammate that has left the biggest impression on my life is Boady Ross. Tennis is different from other sports, the boy’s and girls’ team are always together, we practice and sometimes compete together as well. Boady has a never give up attitude, even in the wake of sorrow or defeat he won’t give up or give in to the frustration that can overtake you on the court. I think everyone should take that attitude. It is contagious on the court and off, I am grateful to have a friend and teammate like Boady.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Caroline: I don’t think any of us really have an impression of our coach, but Jessi Bolin, Mallory Ross, and Zoey Brown are some of the funniest girls I have ever meet and can always crack a joke on the court.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Caroline: If I could go anywhere for vacation I would go to Italy with my friends.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Caroline: First I would split it into four stacks of $125, I would spend one stack on food, another on clothes, the third on anything else I need to take care of and the fourth I would donate.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Caroline: I just want to thank all our coaches for their effort and hard work they put in 24/7. I am so immensely grateful for them. And thank you to my parents and all the parents and friends who come and support us in any way, it means the world.
