Facing their stiffest challenge of the spring season, the stroke-by-stroke improvement continues for the Lady Cougars to win the Southern Oklahoma Invitational at the Duncan Elks Golft and Country Club.
The combination of individual scores allowed Ada post a team total 358 to top the leaderboard ahead of the competition including Class 5A top-ranked Carl Albert along with Marlow and Duncan, who was playing on their home course. With a round of 85, London Wilson would pick up another third place medal while her teammates Ava Manwell (91), Kenzi Qualls (91) and Brooklyn Black (92) proved that the all-around team performance was the key to Ada winning the team championship with the four scores all among the top 12 individual totals. “What a pleasant surprise to win the Duncan tournament against a very competitive field,” said coach Ron Anderson with a smile of achievement by his team. “
Ada will travel to compete in the Class 5A State Preview on Tuesday in Muskogee, site for the 2024 state
championship and then go back-to-back competition traveling to Ardmore on Wednesday at Dornick Hills. “This week will give us a better indication of what to expect at regionals,” said Anderson noting that the Lady Cougars will host the Class 5A regionals on April 24 on their home course, Oak Hills Country Club. “With the travel, early tee times and stern competition on consecutive days, this week will test us physically and mentally. I will feel like the demands of the two-day state tournament.”
