Ada’s Gage Van Horn
Football, wrestling and track each demand something different from an athlete, but for Ada’s Gage Van Horn, the common thread is toughness.
A junior at Ada High School, Van Horn stays busy year-round competing in three sports while continuing to develop as both an athlete and a leader. Along the way, he has learned lessons that extend far beyond competition.
One piece of advice has especially stayed with him.

“The best piece of advice I’ve been given is to stop overthinking everything,” Van Horn said. “It made me realize that God has my back and all I need to do is trust God’s plan.”
That perspective helps keep him grounded through the challenges that come with balancing school, athletics and everyday life. Whether he’s on the football field, wrestling mat or track, Van Horn believes confidence comes from preparation and trust.
“Sports have taught me to stay tough and trust the people around me,” he said.
The support system around him has played a major role in his success. Van Horn credits his parents as the biggest influences in his life, providing guidance and encouragement every step of the way.
“My mom and dad are the reason I’m where I am today,” he said. “Without them, I’d probably be somewhere I don’t need to be.”
At school, football coach Matt Nail has also made a lasting impact. Van Horn said Coach Nail has consistently challenged him to grow, both as a player and as a person.
“Coach Nail has helped me overcome challenges I didn’t think I could overcome,” Van Horn said. “He’s helped me throughout school and football.”
Away from school, Van Horn enjoys spending time at Elite Fitness, a place that has become an important part of his routine. The gym has helped him get stronger physically while also introducing him to new people and friendships.

“Elite Fitness has helped me become a stronger person, and I’ve met a lot of new people there,” he said.
As Van Horn continues his high school career, his focus remains simple: work hard, trust the people around him and keep faith in the path ahead.
