Carl McCortney, a shining star of the Ada High School performing arts scene, embodies talent, dedication and unwavering support for his craft. With a passion for drama and a heart full of ambition, Carl reflects on his journey and the mentors who have shaped his path.

For Carl, his parents stand as pillars of support and guidance, serving as his most cherished mentors throughout his journey in performing arts. “My parents have been my best mentors throughout my career,” he reflected gratefully.

Among his fellow drama members, Carl finds inspiration in Daphne Draper, whose dedication and talent serve as a beacon of excellence within the team. “She is not only such a talented actor but is such a good influence on everyone on the team,” Carl admired.

Mrs. Merrie Palmer, Carl’s favorite teacher and mentor, holds a special place in his heart for her unwavering support and guidance. “She took me in when I was brand new and has taught me everything I know as an actor,” he expressed with gratitude.

Carl’s accolades and achievements speak volumes about his talent and commitment to his passion. Committed to Oklahoma City University for musical theater, one of the best musical theater programs in the country, Carl has received generous scholarship opportunities, demonstrating his dedication and potential in the performing arts arena.

In addition to his individual achievements, Carl cherishes the lessons learned from drama that he applies to his daily life. “Drama has taught me how to work with different groups of people,” he reflected, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and emotional availability in building meaningful relationships.

One of Carl’s fondest memories in performing arts was performing at the Kelli O’Hara Awards, where his team won the award for best ensemble in the state of Oklahoma. Such moments of recognition and camaraderie fuel Carl’s passion for the stage and drive his pursuit of excellence.

As he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his journey at Oklahoma City University, Carl remains steadfast in his pursuit of artistic excellence, set to shine brightly as he takes center stage in the world of musical theater. With his talent, determination and indomitable spirit, Carl McCortney is destined to illuminate the stage and inspire audiences.
