ADA COUGARS
BOYS
Coach: Kyle Caufield
22-23 Record: 28-8
The Ada Cougars boys basketball team, under the guidance of head coach Kyle Caufield, is gearing up for the 2023 season. The Cougars fell just one game short of the state tournament last season, and it has fueled their determination to go further this year. “We lost some big pieces from that team, but we have some young guys ready to step in and fill the void,” Caufield said. “We will be younger than the past but have some good leaders and saw lots of improvement from our guys thought out the summer. We will always strive to be great on the defensive end of the floor and we believe we will have more depth this year. We have some core pieces back and a good group of juniors and some sophomores that are expected to have an impact.” Devon MacCollister (5-8, Sr.) returns as a quick, shifty guard known for his exceptional pace. He’s a versatile shooter, both on and off the ball, and a tenacious on-ball defender. In the 2022-23 season, MacCollister averaged 15.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Carter Colombe (6-3, Sr.) is also an athletic guard with a great feel for the game, and he averaged 12.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game last season. Owen Wofford (6-5, Sr.) brings versatility to the team as a stretch five, equally comfortable playing on the perimeter and finishing in the paint. Caron Richardson (6-2, Sr.) combines ball-handling finesse with outside shooting and the ability to drive to the basket. He’s a tenacious on-ball defender and a reliable rebounder, making him a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the court. Lakeivan Richardson (6-1, Sr.) finishes out the starting five as a smooth lefty guard. His agile ball-handling skills enable him to excel as an offensive threat. He’s steadily improving as a long-range shooter and is a lockdown defender.
