Ada High School sophomore Halston Redwine is a member of the varsity tennis team and someone you should keep an eye on this season.
The Cougars are loaded with some young talent and according to coach Terry Swopes, they will be competitive. “This year are top six players will be one senior and five sophomores. We will have one new player from last year’s team. We are a young team, but we should be extremely competitive this season.”
Redwine is one of the five sophomores coach Swopes is looking forward to seeing compete this year.
“Halston is an excellent tennis player that has a never-ending motor. He is constantly working on his game. He placed third at state at No. 1 Doubles in Class 5A and will look to improve on that this season,” coach Swopes said.
We caught up with the sophomore to get his thoughts on the team and what it means to him to represent Ada High School.
VYPE: Halston, what age did you first start playing the game of tennis?
Redwine: I’ve played tennis since I was seven.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Ada?
Redwine: They are my brothers, that are willing to do anything for me and I’m willing to do anything for them.
VYPE: What do you like most about representing Ada High School in competition?
Redwine: Represent that “block A” is everything.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Redwine: I like to go fishing, hunting, or hitting some tennis balls.
