Mom to four boys, Sunny Swopes, does not let being outnumbered dull her shine. Sunny has been volunteering her time since she was just in junior high at her local church. From then she continued to volunteer and when she had children, she kept the tradition going. She has been part of various volunteer efforts for sports, church, and her boys’ other school activities. Currently Sunny focuses her volunteer work with the Ada tennis team.
“The most satisfying aspect of volunteering for me is being a servant for others,” Sunny said.
Not only does Sunny enjoy volunteering, but she also thinks it is important for parents.
“It is important for parents to get involved to be of service and help coaches and school with whatever they need,” said Sunny.
Ada Tennis is a long-standing tradition in Sunny’s family. She grew up in Ada where her father was the tennis coach for a time. She played tennis growing up and continued her love of tennis into college. Sunny’s husband is now Coach Terry Swopes, Ada’s head tennis coach. Her eldest son, Landon, played four years of tennis in high school, and now attends Stanford. Sons Jackson, 17, and Mason, six, also play tennis. Her youngest Gabe, who is only four, will know everything there is to know about tennis when he is old enough to compete.
When Sunny and her family are not busy, they do enjoy taking time for the family and spending it on a vacation or just being all together hanging around the house.
Outside of volunteering, being a mother, and wife, Sunny also works as an instructional designer for Epic Charter Schools.
